This blog has been launched to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of Halas & Batchelor Cartoon Films. Over the next 12 months we will bring you as many different posts as we can about the studio, its legacy, the films, the people who worked there, where you can see the films today, the archive, events... you get the picture.

The blog is administrated and run (or at least jogged) by Jez Stewart, who is the Curator responsible for the animation collection at the BFI National Archive. However this is not a BFI project, it has been put together outside of work hours and all opinions and statements in his posts are his own. For what they are worth.

The blog is also run by and otherwise dedicated to Vivien Halas, daughter of John Halas and Joy Batchelor, who has done so much to preserve and promote the legacy of her parents and their company over the years.
